What is “self”? (2)

Nearly every substance known to mankind bears a chemical identity card made of a characteristic pattern of molecules at its surface.  Each of these cells that make up our own tissues and organs carries such an identity card.  Because the innate intelligence of the body uses genes to determine the shape and nature of these human selfmakers, they are unique to each individual.

Lodged in the outer surface of our cells, they stand as flags of our identity.

Amazing isn’t it?
