2 lungs to breathe? (4)

Continuing to recover from hurricane “Sandy” we saw what happens when power is temporarily interrupted.  If your lungs were to lose some power, your filtering system would become clogged with dust because with every breath you take, you breathe in dust that is laden with toxic materials.  Yet, to prevent this, your filtering system is quite elaborate:  tears, mucus and tiny hair, all play a part.

This filtering system also prevents the lungs from being scorched by hot air, or frozen by cold air.  In cold weather the innate intelligence of the body warm the air.  In hot weather it cools the air as it passes into you lungs.
