Does it hurt?

Pain is a sensation we seldom get used to.  Pain is an alarm that warns of tissue injury.  The several million free nerve endings are our pain receptors, and the more we get hit, the more it hurts.  Some pains prick, some burn, some ache.

A prickling sensation travels to the brain the fastest, up to ninety-eight per second, and locates its source more precisely in the skin‘s outer layer.
