Receptors in the joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons respond to the stimulation that occurs when we move a joint. Some monitor the rate of movements and the tension of muscles. Others, signal our position in space. Still others measure pressure changes… when you turn the steering wheel, then relax your grip, or when a quarterback reaches for the ball, then takes it… and continually tell the brain what is going on. These messages travel very fast and produce varying degrees of coordination.
