If the air you breathe reached your lungs without being filtered, you wouldn’t live very long.  You lungs would quickly become clogged with dust since with every breath you take, you breathe in dust.  And that dust is also laden with toxic materials.  Yet, to prevent this, you also possess a marvelous filtering system in which tears, mucus and tiny hairs play a part.

This system also prevents the lungs from being scorched by hot air, or frozen by cold air.  In cold weather the innate intelligence of the body warm the air with that system.  In hot weather the innate intelligence of the body cools the air as it passes into your lungs.

Continuing to recover from hurricane “Sandy” we saw what happens when power is temporarily interrupted.  If your lungs were to lose some power, your filtering system would become clogged with dust because with every breath you take, you breathe in dust that is laden with toxic materials.  Yet, to prevent this, your filtering system is quite elaborate:  tears, mucus and tiny hair, all play a part.

The cells in your stomach‘s lining produce millions of tough, tiny flakes of mucus that line its inside walls just like shingles cover the roof of a house.  This lining is replaced every five days due to the powerful acid, along with two other chemicals, pepsin and rennin which are necessary to help break down the food you eat into a consistency that your intestine can digest.

Science News (November 1996) reports that cold viruses respond to a chemical released by cancer cells within the human body attacking the cancer cells, and ingesting them.  This basically means that to have a “cold” is good to fight cancer within human being.  Studies done in the Ukraine reveal that people having 3 to 4 “colds” per year have lesser chances of developing cancer.

When cold viruses penetrate the mucus blanket, their reproduction kills cancer cells.  As these cells die, they release several substances, on of which is called histamine.  Histamines cause the tiny blood vessels, or capillaries, in the infected area to expand.  Capillary expansion stimulates increased blood flow into the area.  This increased blood volume carries with it white blood cells and antibodies that attack the virus.
