Citizens of the body? (2)

Usually, we live in harmony with our microscopic residents.  Most stay on the body’s surface.  Under certain conditions, when we are malnourished, exhausted, injured, or if our internal resistance is not up to par and we have subluxations, resident organisms and other microbes may invade and multiply in our tissues, or set forth in the bloodstream  traveling to all parts of the body.  If unchallenged, they can upset the body’s delicate chemistry.  When this happens, the body functions may be compromised.

To keep one’s resistance high requires a good nerve supply.  A good nerve supply is part of the chiropractic objective.

Can we talk about a virus?

Now, let us take a good look at an invasion of the body by a cold virus.  Consider the cooperative efforts of the body’s immune cells and molecules in an encounter with an adenovirus, the agent involved in most colds.  Like other viruses, the adenovirus consists of a stand on genetic material encased in a protein coat.  It enters the body through the mucus membranes in our nose, throat and eyes.  Latching on the surface of its host cell, the viral agent penetrates the membrane of its target and injects its own genetic material into the cell body.

Once inside the host, this minute fraction of genetic information swiftly tries to divert the cell’s machinery to the production of new virus particles, or virions. This kills the cell and is automatically absorbed by the virus itself.  As long as the resistance of the body is kept high, this kamikaze action keeps the body at maximum performance.  You get a scratchy throat, stuffy nose, and you cough and sneeze the virus that has injested the cell and nothing happens to the body.

Do YOU know your immune system? (2)

Naturally, for this army to work efficiently, it must be under the command of a great “General”:  Your brain.  Your Brain-General sends important orders received from the Chief Commander:   Your innate intelligence, via  telegraphic system of communication called the nerve system, which is protected within your vertebral column.

Sometimes vertebral subluxations interfere with the transmission of the orders sent by your Brain-General creating troubles because your body expresses less of its innate potential.

When this occurs, your “army” does not receive the correct orders, it does not perform properly, your resistance decreases and you are prey to invaders (like bacteria, viruses and germs).  Sometimes as a result of this scenario your body becomes sick.

What must you do to regain you health and maintain it?  Common sense says that you must repair the interference within the transmission of the orders from your Brain-General.

The objective of the straight chiropractor is to correct vertebral subluxations allowing you to express your innate potential fully and providing the battalions and the troops of your “army” (immune system) to once again receive the orders of you Brain-General.  Then and only then will your body hav a chance to perform properly.  And, of course, you will also be fully protected by keeping your resistance high… This is called: prevention.

Do YOU know your immune system?

Did you know your body has its own “army” ready to defend you  against harmful agents such as selective groups of bacteria, virus and germs?  This “army”  is your immune system, also called your body resistance.

It began to work when you were still within the womb of  your mother.  The innate intelligence of the body was using the placenta of you mother to manufacture antibodies and interferons that are released within your blood stream to provide you with your first “battalion” to help you fight off potential invaders.  Then as you were born and were fed your other’s breast milk (we hope), you received via this human milk your second “battalion” of antibodies.

Then 3 to 4 weeks later, the innate intelligence of the body began to manufacture its very own “troops” of antibodies and interferons through a small gland called the thymus.  Your innate intelligence also manufacrures what is called gammaglobulin and immunoglobin (two principal defense agents).

Of course your spleen with some other organs and glands are also used by your innate intelligence to produce natural immunity providing you with the most sophisticated warfare weapons against any harmful invaders of your body.

Vertebral subluxation

If the body is not working right due to vertebral subluxations, its performance will diminish affecting all the systems within that body.

The immune system, for example, will function improperly, the resistance of the body will decrease, other systems will be impaired as a result, the repairing and healing mechanisms will be inefficient which will allow the cells to lose their ability to excrete properly, to be productive and to reproduce themselves normally.

In short, the entire body will, over time, re-create itself abnormally.
